Taoism has affected Ancient Chinese people's lives in many ways
|
Taoism is a way of life started by a man named Laozi (Lao-Tzu) at about 600BC. Tao means 'way', or 'path' in Chinese. As more and more people began to believe Taoism, it has changed many thoughts of ancient Chinese.

Taoism had impacts on some major celebrations in people's lives, too |
Taoism believed horoscope could divine a person's life. They casted horoscopes for every baby once they were born, because the Tao people thought birth is a important time for casting horoscopes.
Death combined the elements of Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism, in regard to life after death. The funeral rites had to be performed correctly in order for the dead to join the family ancestors. Because Taoism believed souls and spirits, there was a belief that the soul is judged by the King of Hell. After the body is buried, paper models of money, clothes and stuff the dead used before death were often burnt for the soul in the afterlife to enjoy. |
